Terms of Service
Last updated: March 27, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and RightMyWork Inc. ("RightMyWork," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the RightMyWork website at www.rightmywork.com, any associated applications, APIs, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, you must actively check a box confirming that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. This constitutes a clickwrap agreement. By accessing, browsing, or using the Service in any manner — including uploading a document, purchasing credits, or simply visiting the website — you further acknowledge your acceptance of these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately cease all use of the Service. Your continued use of the Service after any modification to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
If you are under 18, you may not create an account, upload documents, purchase credits, or use the Service in any capacity. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18.
3. Geographic Restrictions
The Service is intended for use within the United States, Canada, and Australia only. The Service is not available to users located in the European Union or the United Kingdom. We actively block access from unsupported regions at the infrastructure, application, and payment layers.
Any person who circumvents geographic restrictions to access the Service — including but not limited to the use of virtual private networks (VPNs), proxy servers, or other means — does so entirely at their own risk and accepts full and sole liability for any resulting regulatory exposure, legal consequences, or other adverse outcomes. RightMyWork bears no responsibility whatsoever for any obligations, fines, penalties, or liabilities that arise from such circumvention.
We reserve the right to terminate any account that we determine, in our sole discretion, has been created or is being used in violation of these geographic restrictions.
4. Description of Service
What We Provide
RightMyWork provides AI-powered copyediting for academic and professional documents. The Service analyses uploaded DOCX files and returns a version with tracked changes covering grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, clarity, and citation formatting. Supported citation styles include APA (7th edition), MLA (9th edition), Chicago (Author-Date and Notes-Bibliography), Harvard, OSCOLA, IEEE, and Vancouver. English variants supported include US English, UK English, Australian English, and Canadian English.
What We Do Not Provide
The Service is not human editing. All edits are generated by artificial intelligence, specifically large language models. The Service does not guarantee the correctness, completeness, or academic suitability of any edit. The Service is not a plagiarism detection tool, a content generation tool, a translation service, or a substitute for professional human copyediting, proofreading, or peer review. The Service does not write, rewrite, paraphrase, or generate original content on your behalf. It identifies and suggests corrections to existing text only.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain continuous availability of the Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, server failures, third-party service outages (including but not limited to AI model providers, cloud infrastructure providers, and authentication services), or events beyond our reasonable control. We are not liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by the unavailability of the Service for any reason.
5. Accounts and Authentication
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account using a valid email address or by authenticating through a supported third-party provider (currently Google OAuth). You agree to: (a) provide accurate, current, and complete registration information; (b) maintain the confidentiality and security of your account credentials; (c) promptly notify us of any unauthorised use of your account; and (d) accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account, whether or not authorised by you.
We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to: violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, prolonged inactivity, or any conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to the Service, other users, or third parties.
You may also use the Service in a limited capacity without an account. Anonymous usage is tracked via a hashed session identifier and is subject to reduced word limits and feature restrictions. Anonymous session data expires after 30 days.
6. Credit Packs and Payments
Credit Model
RightMyWork uses a one-time credit pack model. You purchase a fixed quantity of word credits at a fixed price. Credits are added to your account balance upon successful payment verification and never expire. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or automatic renewals. Current tiers are: Starter (30,000 words for $9 USD), Scholar (100,000 words for $25 USD), and Value (250,000 words for $45 USD). New accounts receive an initial allocation of free words as stated on the website at the time of registration. All prices are in US Dollars unless otherwise stated.
Word Billing
Credits are deducted based on the word count of your document as estimated by our system. If your remaining credit balance is insufficient to process an entire document, the Service will edit up to the nearest paragraph boundary within your available balance. You will receive a document with tracked changes for the portion that was edited. Partial edits are non-refundable because work has been performed.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment instrument data on our servers. We receive only a transaction confirmation and the amount paid. By making a purchase, you agree to the terms and conditions of the applicable payment provider.
Refunds
Credits that have been used to process documents are non-refundable. If you experience a verified technical failure that prevented the Service from producing any output for a submitted job, we may, at our sole discretion, refund the credits consumed by that specific job. Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the relevant transaction. We reserve the right to deny refund requests that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be fraudulent or abusive.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change the pricing of credit packs at any time. Price changes will be posted on the website and will apply to purchases made after the change takes effect. Previously purchased credits are not affected by price changes.
Digital Credits Cancellation Waiver
By completing a purchase, you confirm immediate delivery of your digital credits and understand that credits are non-refundable once delivered. You expressly acknowledge that the digital nature of credits means delivery begins immediately upon purchase completion. This waiver is presented at checkout and your completion of the purchase constitutes your agreement to this term.
Digital Delivery — Canadian Users
If you are located in Canada, you acknowledge that digital credits constitute digital content delivered electronically. By completing a purchase, you consent to the immediate delivery of your digital credits and acknowledge that you will not have a right to cancel the transaction once delivery has begun, to the extent permitted under the applicable provincial consumer protection legislation.
7. Document Upload and Processing
File Requirements
The Service accepts Microsoft Word documents in DOCX format only. The maximum file size is 25 MB. Files that do not meet these requirements will be rejected. We reserve the right to reject any file that appears malformed, corrupted, or potentially malicious.
Processing
Uploaded documents are processed by our AI editing engine, which uses third-party large language model APIs. Your document text is transmitted to these API providers for the sole purpose of generating editing suggestions. These third-party providers have their own terms of service and data usage policies. As of the date of these Terms, the providers we use do not use API inputs to train their models, but we do not control and cannot guarantee the future policies of third-party providers.
Download Windows
Edited documents are available for download for a limited time after processing is complete. The download window is 24 hours for free-tier users and 7 days for paid-tier users. After the download window expires, the edited document is permanently deleted from our servers and cannot be recovered. It is your sole responsibility to download your edited document within the applicable window.
Watermarking
Documents processed using free credits may include a digital watermark. This watermark is embedded in the document metadata and may restrict certain editing features. Paid credit packs produce documents without watermarks.
Queue Limits
The number of documents you may have queued for processing simultaneously depends on your account plan. We reserve the right to modify queue limits at any time.
8. Your Content and Intellectual Property
Ownership
You retain all intellectual property rights in the documents and content you upload to the Service. We claim no ownership of your content. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, temporary licence to process, store, and transmit your documents solely for the purpose of providing the Service. This licence terminates when your document is deleted from our systems.
Your Representations
By uploading content, you represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload and process the content; (b) the content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights; (c) the content does not violate any applicable law or regulation; and (d) the content is not defamatory, obscene, threatening, or otherwise unlawful.
Our Content
The Service — including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and all other content created by RightMyWork — is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws worldwide. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works based on our content without our express written permission.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to: (a) violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation; (b) infringe on the intellectual property or proprietary rights of any third party; (c) upload documents containing malware, viruses, or any other malicious code; (d) attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other user accounts, or our systems; (e) use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Service beyond the intended user interface; (f) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure; (g) submit content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, threatening, or promotes violence; (h) use the Service for any purpose that facilitates academic dishonesty, plagiarism, or fraud; (i) resell, sublicence, or redistribute access to the Service or its outputs; (j) circumvent any rate limits, queue limits, usage restrictions, or security measures; (k) attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or algorithms of the Service or its AI editing engine; or (l) use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the Service.
RightMyWork is a copyediting tool. It identifies issues in your existing writing and suggests corrections via tracked changes. You are solely responsible for reviewing, accepting, or rejecting each suggested edit. You are solely responsible for the final content of your document. Using the Service does not absolve you of your obligations regarding academic integrity, institutional policies, or any applicable code of conduct.
10. AI Output Disclaimer
THE SERVICE USES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO GENERATE EDITING SUGGESTIONS. AI-GENERATED OUTPUT IS INHERENTLY PROBABILISTIC AND MAY CONTAIN ERRORS, INACCURACIES, INAPPROPRIATE SUGGESTIONS, OR OMISSIONS. THE SERVICE MAY FAIL TO IDENTIFY CERTAIN ERRORS IN YOUR DOCUMENT, MAY SUGGEST INCORRECT CORRECTIONS, OR MAY ALTER THE INTENDED MEANING OF YOUR TEXT.
YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT: (a) ALL AI-GENERATED EDITS ARE SUGGESTIONS ONLY; (b) YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING EVERY EDIT BEFORE ACCEPTING OR REJECTING IT; (c) RIGHTMYWORK DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR SUITABILITY OF ANY EDIT FOR ANY PURPOSE; (d) YOU WILL NOT RELY ON THE SERVICE AS YOUR SOLE MEANS OF PROOFREADING, EDITING, OR QUALITY ASSURANCE; AND (e) RIGHTMYWORK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES ARISING FROM YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF ANY AI-GENERATED EDIT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ACADEMIC PENALTIES, PUBLICATION REJECTION, PROFESSIONAL CONSEQUENCES, REPUTATIONAL HARM, OR FINANCIAL LOSS.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RIGHTMYWORK EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
(a) IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT; (b) WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS; (c) WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; (d) WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY EDITS, DATA, OR OTHER INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE; (e) WARRANTIES THAT DEFECTS IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED; AND (f) WARRANTIES REGARDING THE RESULTS THAT MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE USE OF THE SERVICE.
NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM RIGHTMYWORK OR THROUGH THE SERVICE SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS SHALL APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL RIGHTMYWORK, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, ASSIGNS, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY: (a) INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; (b) LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES; (c) COST OF PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES; (d) LOSS OR CORRUPTION OF DOCUMENTS OR DATA; (e) ACADEMIC PENALTIES, PUBLICATION REJECTION, OR PROFESSIONAL CONSEQUENCES; (f) DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE OR ANY AI-GENERATED EDIT; (g) DAMAGES ARISING FROM UNAUTHORISED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR DATA; (h) DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; OR (i) ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF RIGHTMYWORK HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF RIGHTMYWORK AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS, FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (a) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO RIGHTMYWORK IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM; OR (b) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50.00 USD).
THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SECTION APPLY REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE ALLEGED LIABILITY IS BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER BASIS, AND EVEN IF A REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN IS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. THIS LIMITATION DOES NOT APPLY TO THE EXTENT THAT APPLICABLE LAW (INCLUDING THE AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW, SCHEDULE 2 OF THE COMPETITION AND CONSUMER ACT 2010 (CTH)) PROHIBITS ITS EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION.
13. Australian Consumer Law
If you are located in Australia, this section applies to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) ("ACL") or any other applicable Australian law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. For major failures with the Service, you are entitled to: (a) a refund for unused credits; and (b) compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the Service rectified in a reasonable time.
To the maximum extent permitted by the ACL, our total liability to you for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee (other than a guarantee under sections 51 to 53 of the ACL) is limited, at our option, to: (a) the resupply of the services; or (b) the payment of the cost of having the services resupplied.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RightMyWork and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, actions, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and court costs) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of or access to the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; (d) your violation of any rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights and privacy rights; (e) any content you upload to or transmit through the Service; (f) any claim that your content caused damage to a third party; (g) your negligence or wilful misconduct; or (h) any dispute between you and any third party regarding your use of the Service or the output produced by the Service.
This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination or expiration of these Terms and your use of the Service.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply to these Terms.
Binding Arbitration
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, including the determination of the scope or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, shall be determined by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in San Francisco, California, before a single arbitrator. The arbitrator shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, or formation of this arbitration agreement, including any claim that all or any part of this agreement is void or voidable. Judgement on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class Action Waiver
YOU AND RIGHTMYWORK AGREE THAT ANY PROCEEDINGS TO RESOLVE OR LITIGATE ANY DISPUTE WILL BE CONDUCTED SOLELY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, AND THAT NEITHER YOU NOR RIGHTMYWORK WILL SEEK TO HAVE ANY DISPUTE HEARD AS A CLASS ACTION, A REPRESENTATIVE ACTION, A COLLECTIVE ACTION, A PRIVATE ATTORNEY-GENERAL ACTION, OR IN ANY PROCEEDING IN WHICH EITHER PARTY ACTS OR PROPOSES TO ACT IN A REPRESENTATIVE CAPACITY. YOU AND RIGHTMYWORK FURTHER AGREE THAT NO ARBITRATION OR PROCEEDING SHALL BE JOINED, CONSOLIDATED, OR COMBINED WITH ANOTHER ARBITRATION OR PROCEEDING WITHOUT THE PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT OF ALL PARTIES.
Exceptions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of a party's intellectual property rights.
16. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately. Reasons for termination include but are not limited to: violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, abusive behaviour, non-payment, legal requirements, or our decision to discontinue the Service.
Upon termination: (a) your right to use the Service ceases immediately; (b) any pending or queued documents may not be processed; (c) your access to completed documents is subject to applicable download windows; (d) unused credits are forfeited unless applicable law requires otherwise; and (e) we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at legal@rightmywork.com. Sections 3, 8 through 15, 17, and 19 through 22 shall survive any termination of these Terms.
17. Force Majeure
RightMyWork shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, natural disasters, epidemics or pandemics, war, terrorism, riots, government actions or orders, embargoes, sanctions, labour disputes, strikes, power failures, internet or telecommunications failures, distributed denial-of-service attacks or other cyber attacks, failures of third-party service providers (including but not limited to AI model providers, cloud infrastructure providers, payment processors, email delivery services, and authentication services), changes in applicable law or regulation, or any other event beyond our reasonable control (each, a "Force Majeure Event").
During a Force Majeure Event, our obligations under these Terms are suspended to the extent affected, and the time for performance is extended by the duration of the event. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as practicable.
18. Electronic Communications
By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to receive electronic communications from us, including but not limited to: (a) service-related emails (account confirmation, job completion notifications, download reminders, payment receipts); (b) product-related emails (feature highlights, usage tips); and (c) promotional emails (upgrade prompts, new feature announcements). You may opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails, but you may not opt out of service-related communications while your account remains active.
You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
19. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party services for its operation, including but not limited to cloud infrastructure providers, AI model providers, authentication providers, email delivery services, and payment processors. We do not control these third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, performance, accuracy, policies, or practices. Your use of the Service may be subject to the terms and conditions of these third-party providers.
We are not liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by the acts, omissions, failures, or interruptions of any third-party service provider, including but not limited to: changes to their APIs, pricing, or terms of service; data processing practices; service outages; or discontinuation of their services.
20. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service.
21. Severability and Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, shall be severed from these Terms. The invalidity of any provision shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.
The failure of RightMyWork to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. No waiver shall be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorised representative of RightMyWork.
22. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RightMyWork regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, warranties, and understandings, whether written, oral, or implied, with respect to the Service.
23. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at legal@rightmywork.com.
