Can I use AI to proofread my novel?
Yes. Choose Proofreading Only and the editor corrects spelling, grammar, punctuation, and house style across the whole manuscript, with no rewriting: only errors are corrected. Dialogue punctuation follows the Chicago Manual of Style for US English or the New Oxford Style Manual for UK English.
Every correction comes back as a tracked change in Word, so you can reject anything you wrote that way on purpose. Like any AI, it can make mistakes, which is why nothing is applied without your say. If you want the prose tightened later, run Light or Full Editing on the same draft.
Is it OK to use AI to edit my book?
It depends on what the AI does. AI-assisted editing, where you wrote the book and a tool corrects and refines it, is different from AI-generated text, where a tool wrote the words. RightMyWork does the first: it edits your sentences and returns each change as a tracked suggestion you accept or reject. It does not write chapters for you.
Literary agents and publishers are generally most concerned with authorship: that the book is yours. If a contract or submission form asks about AI use, answer it honestly and describe what the tool did.
What Amazon KDP asks authors to disclose
KDP asks you to tell it about AI-generated content when you publish, and says: “You are not required to disclose AI-assisted content.” It defines AI-assisted this way: “If you created the content yourself, and used AI-based tools to edit, refine, error-check, or otherwise improve that content (whether text or images), then it is considered ‘AI-assisted’ and not ‘AI-generated.’”
